At the Matteson Foundation, we are dedicated to making martial arts training accessible to all, regardless of financial or physical challenges. Inspired by the courage and determination of individuals like Amora, who lives with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and has found strength and joy in Taekwondo, we believe that martial arts can change lives in profound ways.
Our Story
The Matteson Foundation was founded with the dream of helping children and adults overcome barriers to pursue their passion for martial arts. For many, the cost of classes, uniforms, and gear can be a significant obstacle. For others, physical conditions like EB make participation in sports seem out of reach. We are here to change that.
Inspired by the journey of Amora who has shown incredible resilience through her practice of Taekwondo despite the daily challenges of living with EB, our foundation was created to provide support, funding, and community for anyone wanting to begin or continue their martial arts journey.
What We Do
Provide Financial Assistance: We offer scholarships to cover the costs of classes, equipment, and uniforms, ensuring that financial hardship doesn't stand in the way of personal growth.
Build a Supportive Community: We connect students with martial arts schools that foster inclusive, supportive environments where everyone, regardless of ability or background, can thrive.
Raise Awareness: Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to raise awareness about the benefits of martial arts for personal development and health, as well as shine a light on conditions like EB.
